This last year in particular has presented unique challenges affecting cancer patients in countless ways as well as contributed to growing needs at the Segal Cancer Centre.

Your support of Le Week-end means you are playing a crucial role in ensuring that the JGH—Quebec’s top-ranked hospital—and its Segal Cancer Centre remain at the forefront of cancer care and innovation.

In addition to exceptional patient care, the Segal Cancer Centre boasts a thriving cancer research program making breakthroughs in the fields of molecular oncology, cancer genetics, biomarkers in cancer therapy, and the study of new treatments—with a focus on cancers such as breast, ovarian, prostate and leukemia, among others.

Renowned oncologist and Director, Dr. Gerald Batist, shares his unique perspective on the JGH’s Segal Cancer Centre, and how this state-of-the-art facility and incomparable interdisciplinary team are leading the way to provide patients with the most comprehensive approach to care, at each step of their journey—including cancer prevention, diagnosis, treatment, psychosocial support and nutritional support.

“Anyone who has heard those three life-changing words ‘you have cancer’ knows what comes next is a whirlwind of emotions—confusion, fear and denial. In the scariest moments of your life, there is something calming about knowing you’re in the hands of the very best medical professionals—and that’s the team at the Jewish General Hospital.”

Nicole, cancer survivor and participant

“I have so many friends and family that are lost to us well before their time. I tell the survivors if there is anything I can do, not to be shy to ask, but they rarely do. So riding for the Hospital is the easiest way I can think of to fight back.”

Dominic Varvaro, Team Captain, Pratt & Whitney Team
