It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of our Dad, Tien Mai-Xuan.

He passed away at home, surrounded by his daughters, in the night of the 18th to 19th of April, 2024, following a short battle with cancer.

Born in Saigon, Vietnam, he was the eldest of five siblings. As a teenager, he attended the Lycée Jean-Jacques Rousseau, which offered him the opportunity to emigrate to Canada to study mechanical engineering at Polytechnique. First in his family to obtain a university degree, his career took him to the four corners of the province (including several years in the Great North) and around the world.

As a young retiree, he divided his time between Quebec and Vietnam for ten years before settling permanently in La Belle Province. The last years of his life were punctuated by long morning walks exploring the trails of Mount-Royal, energetic ping-pong matches with members of his Club, and golf/fishing/poker games with friends and diving trips with his daughter Alice.

Above all, his greatest pleasure was to take part in his "tribal life": his daughters, his grandson and he share a triplex in Montreal's Mile-End His days were punctuated by the laughter of his grandson, who, as soon as he’d wake up, would race down the stairs connecting the two apartments. He was also immensely proud to feed his clan with his famous spare ribs and cha gio (imperial rolls).

He is survived by his grandson Samuel Thanh, his daughters Solange and Alice, the mother of his children, Thuy Nga Nguyen, his sister Ly, his two brothers Phu and Luu.
